Silverlode / Silverlode / First Contact

It has been ten weeks since the Time of Miracles and the dissolution of the bubbles that Marafaun had formed, revealing a brand new world beyond.
The Time of Miracles, as some have taken to calling the few days that the bubbles were in existence, saw some very strange things occurring, not least of which was that many people had very strange, recurring dreams. Of more interest, perhaps, was that the old gods manifested and caused chaos and destruction wherever they appeared: deadly attacks between rival gangs of women in the mesa dwelling area having evicted the menfolk, pranks and tricks being played on random civilians, thefts of religious artifacts and multiple fatalities within the watch from health drain or single arrow wounds to vital organs. The miraculous part though, was the reward given by the aspect of the goddess of hunters; she unleashed a wave of divine energy that extended to engulf all of the areas encapsulated by the bubbles. This energy not only cured everyone it touched of all wounds, diseases, missing limbs, blindness and every other harmful effect, it also seemed to revive those that had died whilst the bubbles existed with no adverse effects.
The initial excursion from Silverlode, now situated on the side of a freshwater lake rather than the ocean, revealed that there is desert and nomads to the south and east, and plains to the north and west. First contact with the nomads found in the desert seemed cordial enough but no further contact has been made with them, nor as any contact been made with the mounted humanoids that have been seen approaching from the plains – the horse riders even go as far as to actively avoid contact, riding off when approached.
Scout patrols have, however, made distant contact with crews of fishing vessels spotted on the lake to the south. It would seem from the little that has been understood by the patrols, that there are several villages or towns along the coast to the south of Silverlode that could be visited, there may be more to learn from the fishermen, but they obviously follow their migrating catch, as they haven’t been seen for several weeks.
One other piece of news to emerge is that, whilst exploring the islands just offshore from the city, a couple of fishing boats were found, in a state of disrepair indicative of not being used for quite some time; they were still in good enough shape to be manhandled back to the harbour and restored. The next obstacle is to find a crew competent enough to use them!

This energy not only cured everyone it touched of all wounds, diseases, missing limbs, blindness and every other harmful effect, it also seemed to revive those that had died whilst the bubbles existed with no adverse effects.
Initial explorations around Lihr have revealed that the tree city is now located on the edge of cliff overlooking the sea to the south and enclosed by jungle on the other three sides. Contact with the natives has increased due to friendly ties having been established during first contact and those ties built upon during subsequent visits.
The Cacochians that visit Lihr are citizens of a multitude of kingdoms that have settled the lands around the island upon which Lihr now sits; the island is considered a holy place where annual summits take place between delegates of the various kingdoms as well as pilgrimages from those that are capable of such.
The temple to Az-Chu-Kam, found long abandoned within the jungle north east of Lihr, has been restored as much as possible to its original specification. Councillor Raynor Mosedale was gracious enough to lend her assistance during its restoration, using the power of her Pipes of Building to good effect. Unfortunately, the framework that used to contain a bell and striker dedicated to Az-Chu-Kam had to be manually rebuilt and dedicated to the goddess Lihr instead: no matter how Raynor tried to form the magic from her Pipes, whenever the original framework was complete, the bell would start to toll and could only be stopped by dismantling it. A plaza has also been uncovered to the front of the temple; this used to be decorated by a mosaic of the snarling ape unholy symbol of Az-Chu-Kam but this too has been replaced by the circled eye holy symbol of Lihr.

Hi Dave,
Whilst Martin is correct in what he has put in his reply, unfortunately page 23 of the Advanced Player's Guide is not legal for play; in fact nothing out of chapter one of the Advanced Player's Guide is legal for play in Lihr.
Therefore, all characters are limited to choosing either +1 hit point or +1 skill point as a favoured class bonus.
regards Mark

Moved this part to a new thread to address the comments and queries made.
Dave: What sort of reputation is a fighter going to get if he wimps out at the first sign of a small hurdle like lack of a cleric??
Martin: I've clarified the post, now in the original thread, to indicate that the beginners scenario is primarily for those players that have not played Lihr before.
regards Mark

How Many Traits Do I Start With
Each character starts play with two traits, one of which must be taken from the Campaign Traits detailed within the Lihr Guide to Organised Play. Additional traits can be acquired by taking the Additional Traits feat as long as all traits follow the rules detailed in the Advanced Players Guide, chapter 8.

Hi all,
This forum thread will contain clarifications and modifications to the Lihr Guide to Organised Play download so that we don't have to re-issue it every time something comes up that needs to be addressed.
Eventually all of the items on this thread will make it in to a new release of the Guide but in the meantime keep your eye on this thread
Regards Mark

Hi Folks,
Just to let you all know the final details for what's happening at Conception this year.
As you know, we are running on the Friday; we'll be running a desk throughout the morning slot and over lunch on the Friday as well - this will be somewhere accessible that Paul James can find for us that as a plug and we''ll put up signs telling you where when we know.
The Friday game will start with an interactive/muster, then a table top, another interactive, a final table top and a final interactive.
Also, we will be running a couple of different sessions on the Thursday for those of you that want them:.
The first is a beginners session for new players to use their level 1 characters to introduce them to the campaign setting.
The second will be a series of play test encounters similar to what we ran at OddCon so that those of you that didn't participate at OddCon can see how your converted characters play and make adjustments if necessary.
Finally, you will need to see me at the desk on Friday to finalise and sign off on your converted character - until then you are free to modify as you see fit as long as it complies with the guidelines laid out in the Lihr Guide to Organised Play download.
Regards Mark
